We’re doing Eichmann in Jerusalem in my seminar on criminal punishment this week, and I’m struck by how many top Nazis and MAGATS share the same basic social profile, i.e., lifelong catastrophic fuckup who failed upward under conditions ripe for such people to ascend to positions for which they were farcically unqualified. This description fits people like Eichmann, Himmler, Streicher, Goebbels, and many other Nazis to a tee, with the very best example being, of course, Adolf Hitler himself.

On the MAGAT side the examples are equally plentiful, from Whiskey Pete to Bobby Failson to Donnie From Queens, who spent decades managing to be a human disaster of astonishing proportions, despite inheriting hundreds of millions of dollars and everything that goes with such good fortune in our society.

I see no lies in Shakezula’s observation that we’re going to need a lot more walls to throw these decadent and depraved monsters up against, should we ever decide to exact anything even vaguely resembling justice against the almost literal Nazis who have, for incredibly twisted and perverse reasons that historians will spend endless hours and years trying to understand, come to rule us.
