The Moral Rot of Trumpism

If you remember back to ye olde days of a decade ago, Kristi Noem was a regular Republican politician. Sure, her positions were evil. But she just looked like a woman from South Dakota in her 40s. She liked guns and baby Jesus and seemed like someone who actually goes to the Corn Palace in Mitchell or Wall Drug without scoffing too much (seriously, South Dakota has the nation’s most ridiculous tourist attractions and that’s before we even get to Mt. Rushmore). Then she discovered what Trumpism would do for her. She redid her body to look like someone Trump likes to fuck, went all in on the hooliganism of Trumpism, got named Homeland Security secretary and has immersed herself in the world of corruption, high-end watches, fascism, and Corey Lewandowski’s hot hot cock. Not everyone would respond to Trump like this, but when you are all in on not only the politics, but the trashy aesthetics and horrific personal behavior, you are all in.

When Trump named Lori Chavez-DeRemer Secretary of Labor, I didn’t think too much about it. She was a recently defeated Oregon congresswoman who had only won her seat because swing district Democrats nominated someone to the far left who was also bad at campaigning. So no one was real surprised when she lost in 2024. She seemed…OK. She was obviously Teamsters’ president Sean O’Brien choice since he supported Trump. O’Brien is of course a class traitor. But Chavez-DeRemer really wasn’t bad on most labor issues, compared to other Republicans, even in previous, non-fascist administrations. In the first Trump administration, the single best person on policy was Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta, who genuinely did not hate unions. Of course, Acosta had also let Jeffery Epstein go and so he was let go only to replaced by Eugene “Son of Satan” Scalia. I hate it when principle gets in the way of policy.

I just figured that Chavez-DeRemer would be a complete nonentity. But she’s figured out a way to be an entity. First, she was the most pathetic, disgusting slavish suck up in last year’s Politburo-like tongue bath of Herr Trump, actually asking him to invade Portland. And now, it turns out she too has embraced the core of Trumpism–corruption, nepotism, sex. There’s been all kinds of crazy stuff. Here’s a few examples:

The government paid nearly $100,000 to resolve an employment discrimination claim that arose from the former congressional office of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, according to a report from the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights.

The OCWR annual report lists the amount of the award or settlement — $98,650 — and that it was tied to a part of federal statute that bans discrimination based on a worker’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status or age. The report was uploaded to the office’s website.

It’s the largest award or settlement from a House office since at least 2019, according to past reports, and the secretary’s was the only House office to have an employment discrimination claim payment in 2025.

Awards and settlements that resolve a claims under a law are paid from a Treasury Department account that receives appropriations for that purpose, according to a Congressional Research Service report.

OK not a good sign. But then there’s this:

A security officer assigned to protect Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer was placed on leave as officials investigate an alleged romantic relationship between them, two people with direct knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg Law.

The officer was placed on administrative leave Jan. 16, days after Chavez-DeRemer’s two top aides were suspended over a probe into the secretary’s travel and conduct at work that allegedly includes at least one inappropriate relationship with a DOL staffer, according to the people, who were not authorized to speak publicly.

The Oregon Republican has sought to position herself as a bridge between the MAGA movement and organized labor—one of the few in her party to openly support unions—and as the face of President Donald Trump’s efforts to help the working class. She spent much of her first year as labor secretary on a tour of all 50 states, including at least seven this January. She visited West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee earlier this week.

Her chief of staff, Jihun Han, and deputy chief of staff, Rebecca Wright, were put on leave after an inspector general complaint alleging they helped facilitate the secretary’s improper work trips to spend time with family and friends became public.

Oh dear.

And really, what’s the point of a good Trumpist marriage if both sides aren’t inappropriately fucking?

The husband of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has been barred from the department’s headquarters after at least two female staff members told officials that he had sexually assaulted them, according to people familiar with the decision and a police report obtained by The New York Times.

The women said Ms. Chavez-DeRemer’s husband, Dr. Shawn DeRemer, had touched them inappropriately at the Labor Department’s building on Constitution Avenue. One of the incidents, during working hours on the morning of Dec. 18, was recorded on office security cameras, the people said. The video showed Dr. DeRemer giving one of the women an extended embrace, and was reviewed as part of a criminal investigation, one of the people said.

In January, the women’s concerns about Dr. DeRemer, 57, were raised as part of an internal investigation by the department’s inspector general into alleged misconduct by Ms. Chavez-DeRemer and her senior staff, one of the people said.

On Jan. 24, Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department filed a report about forced sexual contact in December at the Labor Department, according to their report, which was viewed by The Times.

Do you think they opened the marriage when she took the Cabinet position in order to live that Caligula-era lifestyle? Or are there so many skeletons in the closet to make her a pariah, like what ended Donald Trump’s political career…………
