This sounds . . . . unbelievably terrible?
Reinstating fired — does this mean laid off and furloughed or literally fired? — workers would not represent a GOP concession, but rather an opportunity for the Republicans not to mail themselves a political letter bomb. As for a “guarantee” of a Senate vote on ACA subsidies, this really doesn’t require any comment.
Any deal along these lines would be unilateral surrender in exchange for essentially nothing, five days after the GOP was routed at the polls, in no small part because they are getting killed by the shutdown.
