Albeit unused to the melting mood, I was this close to feeling a twinge of lachrymose sympathy for Erick Erickson:
The “current mess” is of course 100% a product of the election of Donald Trump, and since anti-science lunatics are critical component of Trump’s political support, Trump appointed an anti-science lunatic as head of HHS, which means no Covid vaccine for Erickson’s wife.
Still, cannot we not sip of the milk of human kindness . . .
How might you wonder did “the left” — this means people in favor of income taxes and regulatory agencies, in case you were picturing a college dorm poster of Che Guevara — “build the foundation” for RFK Jr.’s rise?
I boarded the internet trawler Nellie to explore that question, and discovered that according to Erickson it’s because the CDC supposedly overstated the efficacy of the Covid vaccine, which destroyed peoples’ faith in The Authorities, plus something about a Biden “CDC czar” encouraging gay people to have orgies during a monkeypox outbreak (not googling that one; there are only so many mangoes a man can gather on one journey upriver).
