Colorado has had 100% mail-in voting for more than a decade now (you can still vote in-person but there’s no need to do so and almost no one does), and even our otherwise completely insane state Republican party still agreed last time I checked that the system worked basically perfectly, producing high turnout rates with no fraud of any kind.
A bare plurality of American voters decided to put a demented narcissist back in the White House, because of a complex mixture of racism, misogyny, Christian nationalism, general reactionary thinking, unhappiness about high inflation that had already disappeared, and mind-blowing ignorance about how everything from politics to the economy actually work — I myself am particularly interested in the latter factor but it’s a rich tapestry any way you throw up on it — and we’re running a four-year experiment to see how that works out this time.
