For years there’s been a raging internet debate over whether Nick Adams, an Australian cyber infestation who does an extremely over the top the most masculine MAGA man in the world bit, was engaging in a very crude Colbert-type schtick, or conversely was as sincere as Linus’s pumpkin patch.
Today:
President Donald Trump’s decision to nominate MAGA commentator Nick Adams as the next U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia is being met with raised eyebrows in Asia, according to a report.
Trump’s nominee, 40, was an outspoken supporter of the Republican’s presidential campaign last year and is known as a culture warrior and “alpha male” provocateur with a reputation for firing out incendiary social media posts, including one in which he referred to pop superstar Taylor Swift as a “woke jezebel.”
In another viral offering, Adams declared: “I go to Hooters. I eat rare steaks. I lift extremely heavy weights. I read the Bible every night. I am pursued by copious amounts of women. I am wildly successful. I have the physique of a Greek God. I have an IQ over 180. I am extremely charismatic. They hate this.”
Raised eyebrows, and at least one furrowed brow, if I remember my New England political geography at all.
Ambassador to Malaysia is obviously not the most crucial position in the government, but the point of this is to emphasize that any right wing white male, of whatever extra-national provenance and dubious mental and emotional pedigree, is better than any dreaded “DEI” hire, because white supremacy trumps (dyswidt?) every other possible consideration when it comes to determining “merit” in the meritocracy.
Speaking of which, this guy is now BOTH Secretary of Transportation and our Top Man at NASA:
Sean Patrick Duffy (born October 3, 1971) is an American politician, lawyer, former prosecutor, and former television personality who has served as the 20th United States secretary of transportation since January 2025. Duffy has additionally served as the acting administrator of NASA since July 2025.[1] A member of the Republican Party, he served as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district from 2011 to 2019.
After graduating from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and William Mitchell College of Law, Duffy first gained fame as a cast member on The Real World: Boston, Road Rules: All Stars and Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons, before going on to serve as district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin, from 2002 to 2010, and as congressman from Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019. After resigning from Congress, he became a lobbyist and a Fox Business television co-host.
Duffy’s real world (dyswidt?) qualifications to be at both the head of the nation’s regulation of transportation and its space agency consist of graduating from a 12th-rate law school, and being on TV because he’s a telegenic white man, along with a few years as a small town DA. Duffy has been put in these positions not despite the fact that he’s utterly unqualified for them, but rather because of that fact. BTW here are his thoughts on climate change:
If you say the climate’s changing, is it coming from CO2 or is it coming from the sun? Where is – why is the climate changing? And then you would say, let’s have a rigorous debate about what is causing it, or what are all the factors that bring us to climate change? And when you have the left that says “we’re gonna shut down alternative science or science that challenges our narrative,” I think it makes people go “maybe there is a different set of priorities here as opposed to climate change, maybe it actually is an agenda of control.”
One of the main arguments for the neoliberal capitalist order is that every good job wouldn’t automatically be handed to the Duke’s mistress’s brother’s best friend, because the Efficient Discipline of the Market would bind, rebuke, and cast out such decisions.
I think we’re going to need an exorcism. I don’t know how anybody can fully grasp the insanity into which this nation is descending at breakneck speed. I know I can’t.
