The Nixon Head Rock
By I think I’ve referenced this insanity from the Nixon Library, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually posted it before. I was there 10 years ago so probably it is not displayed any longer, as with all the Nixon partisans now dead (Pat Buchanan lives, unfortunately), the professionals have taken it over. They had redone the Watergate exhibit when I was there and made it incredibly boring and opaque, worse than just Nixon’s friends saying FUCK YEAH WE DID IT SHOULD HAVE GOT AWAY WITH IT, which was basically the rest of the museum. Anyway….
I wish the letter that accompanied this gift was displayed. I imagine it this way: “Dick, I was walking drunk in the desert and I saw this rock and it reminded me of your head. Yours, Barry.” And Nixon being like, “Uh, sure Barry.”
