There was supposed to be a mass vaccination event last week at the Santa Fe Women’s Club. These have been effecient and effective in the past. I signed up for it, but the day before got a frantic-sounding telephone call that the vaccines hadn’t arrived. So off to the pharmacy websites we go!

Enter date of birth, name, email, phone number. We will send junk mail to all the addresses.

Find a location.

Click on a date.

Haha, sucker! No appointments available! Try again!

Find a location.

Click on another date.

BZZZZZZT! Sucker! Try again!

And so on.

You might think they could design websites to tell you that no appointments were available on any date, but you would be wrong.

The State of New Mexico had a nice website that helped you schedule an appointment at any of the pharmacies, whichever was available, but that has been trashed in the name of free enterprise.

I just got an email from Walgreen’s saying appointments were available. I checked. Nope. No way on the email to unsubscribe.

I guess, in six months, when the demand has been filled with the pharmacies’ generous planning of three appointments per site per day, it might be possible to schedule something. And I’m Very Online.
