The AR-15 and America

In a grim coincidence given the news of the day, the Washington Post has a story today about how assault rifles like the AR-15 destroy human bodies much more efficiently than ordinary handguns:
Read this article graphically explaining how AR-15s are far more dangerous than handguns.
Then recall Brett Kavanaugh’s claim: “It is difficult to make the case that semi-automatic rifles are significantly more dangerous than semi-automatic handguns.”https://t.co/c3n18otdSX— Mark Joseph Stern (@mjs_DC) March 27, 2023
It’s bad enough that federal judges believe they should be able to establish national policy in any area they choose; the fact that the faction that controls most of the federal appellate courts including the top one gets its information exclusively from Fox News (or even worse) and fascist AM radio makes it much worse.
There is quite simply no reason civilians should be able to possess these weapons. They were banned under the regime of noted Trotskyist Bill Clinton and it did not represent a significant diminution of American freedom. It also shows that the Second Amendment per se (as opposed to particular hack judges purporting to interpret it) is not the reason for the lack of substantial federal gun control.
The problem this time is not so much the Constitution, but one major party in a two party system being dominated by total sickos:

…more brilliant policy innovations from Skeletor, Purveyor of Medicare Fraud:
If only we had the death penalty for school shootings, the shooter who was shot to death by police at the scene (in by far the most typical outcome of these mass shootings) surely would have been deterred pic.twitter.com/xkteRhzIrx— Scott Lemieux (@LemieuxLGM) March 27, 2023
