Angela Lansbury
Angela Lansbury has died, five days short of what would have been her 97th birthday.
A little math reveals that she was all of 36 when she played her terrifyingly effective part as the manipulative matron in the great 1962 film The Manchurian Candidate.
Here’s just one of several biographical details that sounds pretty intriguing:
Her father was the wealthy English timber merchant and politician Edgar Lansbury, a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain and former mayor of the Metropolitan Borough of Poplar.
