Uvalde police didn’t want *anyone else* doing their job, either

It is not strictly accurate to say that the Ovalde police did nothing while a gunman was murdering schoolchildren while they were frantically calling 911. First, they were active in restraining and assaulting parents who did not share their indifference to whether their children lived or died. And second, they actively prevented law enforcement officials who actually wanted to (and eventually, while the Ovalde cops inside stood around, did) stop the killing from entering the school:

By 12:15 p.m., agents from Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement had arrived with tactical shields, he said, far earlier than previously known. But local police at the scene would not allow them to go after the gunman who had opened fire on students inside the school.

12:15! The sheer level of monstrousness shown by the Ovalde PD here is beyond belief. And this is what they’re admitting to.
