Dan Markel’s former brother in law arrested for his murder

This has always been an even less mysterious case than OJ Simpson’s murder of his ex-wife, but the law, like the Lord, works in mysterious ways, especially if you have a lot of money:
Nearly eight years after FSU law professor Dan Markel was gunned down in his Betton Hills garage by hired hitmen, his former brother-in-law has been arrested in connection with his brazen, broad daylight murder.
Charlie Adelson was booked, according to Broward County Jail records, on charges of first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation of murder. The 45-year-old was taken into custody “without incident” Thursday morning at his home by the FBI.
It was a bombshell development in one of the capital city’s most infamous murder cases — one that has been chronicled for years by the Tallahassee Democrat and around the globe and on true crime drama television shows ranging from “Dateline” to “20/20.”
At the time of the murder, some insolent legal academic miscreant went so far as to suggest that perhaps someone I had inspired might have had something to do with this horrendous crime, because Markel and me had had a disagreement about some criticisms of him that were posted in the comments of my old blog. (Markel had wanted the comments removed, which I declined to do).
In fact it was always completely obvious that someone paid to murder Dan Markel, and very shortly after the crime it became just as obvious exactly who paid for that murder. That it’s taken eight years for (one of) the contractors to even get arrested says a lot about the criminal justice system, in Florida in particular, but unfortunately in the rest of the nation as well.
