Erik Visits an American Grave, Part 844
This is the grave of [spit] Antonin Scalia.
Is it really necessary to provide a biography of this utter hack? I don’t think so. We all know about Scalia. And we all think he’s a complete scumbag, one of the worst Supreme Court justices in history and one that got even worse as he aged. That people pretended this guy was some intellectual genius because he was a massive blowhard spitting out Fox News points in his opinions, openly admitting that was his major source of news, is a pretty big indictment on what counts for intellectualism among the media.
I was in line in the Stop and Stop in Hyde Park, New York when I got the alert on my phone that Scalia had died. I was so happy. Finally, maybe the nation was going to be saved! But yeah, no. The nation was not going to be saved, thanks to the revolting behavior of Mitch McConnell and the rest of the hardline Republican caucus. Early 2016 contained such optimistic days. The year….did not turn out well.
Anyway, let’s make this an open thread on one of the worst Americans in modern history. Have at it folks. What are your “favorite” Scalia anecdotes?
Antonin Scalia is buried in Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Virginia.
This grave post was supported by LGM reader donations from my last trip to the South. I don’t think anyone is going to mind me not writing a full biography in this case, simply because of the well-known perfidy of this horrible, despicable, revolting human being. If you wanted something more, well, next time. If would you like this series to visit other of the worst Supreme Court justices, you can donate to cover the required expenses here. Roger Taney is in Frederick, Maryland and James McReynolds is in Elkton, Kentucky. Previous posts in this series are archived here.
