LGM Podcast: Killer Whales
For today’s podcast, I talk to Jason Colby, professor of history at the University of Victoria, about his book Orca: How We Came to Know and Love the Ocean’s Greatest Predator. This is a fascinating book about how we think about this animal has changed so radically in the last half-century, from fishermen just shooting them with high-powered guns to putting them on display to people demanding they roam free. Which has all happened while climate change and pollution and salmon population declines has threatened the orcas that hang out in Puget Sound much more than Seaworld ever did. It was a good conversation and I think you all will enjoy it.
