LGM Film Club, Part 44: Nabokov on Lolita
I recently returned to Nabokov for the first time in a decade, reading Ada or Ardor, which is a wonderful and underrated book. In many ways, it is a companion piece to Lolita, including the sexual activity of very young girls, although in this case, sort of age appropriate. Here is Nabokov and Lionel Trilling discussing Lolita on a Canadian television show shortly after its publication.
What I find most interesting is how Trilling and the interviewer keeping talking about the messages Nabokov is getting across in the book and Nabokov basically denying it.
