Just for the heck of it, I’d like to remind people that Jesse Singal “investigated” Alice Goffman’s compulsively fraudulent book On the Run, and declared it repeatedly (on the basis of essentially no evidence) to be “at the very least, mostly true,” which remains a very special standard to apply to a work of either scholarship or journalism.
