A Man In John Roberts’s Position Can Afford to be Made to Look Ridiculous

It took Trump remarkably little time to blow the cover story his water boy appears poised to use to uphold his illegal manipulation of the census:
The best part about this tweet is gonna be when Roberts pretends not to have seen it and insists the citizenship question is important to the voting rights act, a law he has bitterly hated since he was in his 20s. https://t.co/LKLoHhIlME

And I mean, why not? When the author of Shelby County is able to assert without giggling that he favors upholding a discriminatory act of illegality intended to suppress minority voters because of the importance of enforcing the Voting Rights Act and deferring to Congress, and a fellow hack chimes in to add that the Court must be highly attentive to European legal standards, what harm can be added by their co-partisan making it clear that it’s all bullshit? It’s all in the game, and the fact that the “legal” reasoning of the Republican Party’s judicial section is actively intelligence-insulting is a feature, not a bug.
