When I was kid and throughout my teens I was an avid reader. As I got older the computer screen consumed more of my life and I fell away from reading, and lately–as the world falls apart–I’ve been missing it terribly. I want to lose myself in books, frankly.
Recently I began a YA novel about about 3 kingdoms. There were kings, princes, princesses, palace intrigue, magic, warring regions, shape-shifting hawks and romance (I could tell) on the horizon. ALL GOOD THINGS. But the writing was at times clunky and amateurish and I could tell it was meant for younger readers. It was a bummer. I loved the idea of this book but I didn’t love…the book. But it very much clarified what I’m looking for in a book. So I am asking for recommendations! Throw some books at me! (I am fine with YA but it should be exemplary like “The Hunger Games.”)
(And also this is an open thread to talk about books. Whatcha readin’?)
