The End of an Era
CommentsI will try to have more on this later, but it’s worth noting quickly the seeming end of Robert Mugabe’s reign in Zimbabwe. Obviously Mugabe was a complete disaster, as were all too many post-colonial leaders who centered power in themselves after evicting the colonial powers. But Mugabe and Raul Castro are also the very last of a generation who held such promise to liberate the world’s colonial peoples and the passage of that generation has a certain sadness to it, at least when considering the potential, if not the reality.
