I see Scott has already covered  this article, but I think the linked material is so good it’s worthy of two entries.

I was just DMing a pal, telling her that much of the coverage of the 2016 election felt like gaslighting to me. That people just ran with the “economic anxiety” narrative like a football made of chocolate and orgasms had me tearing my hair out. After becoming bald, the never-ending torrent of “Trump voters are sticking by their guy!” takes came and nearly did me in. I kept screaming–baldly– at the computer screen “Of course they’re sticking with him–he’s an avatar for their grievances!” It was ugly and I scared the cat a lot.

Then along came Adam Serwer, who wrote what I’d call “I just drew a bath and threw on some Otis Redding” answer to my problems. It’s an incredible (and incredibly long) article about how we have…and bear with me here…a major white supremacy problem here in God’s Best Country. I hope you all read it.
