- This post at We Hunted the Mammoth amused me because the claim that women are trying to tamper with human nature and force men to marry fat chicks is really really funny to me. Sure, as a feminist I have a problem with many beauty ideals, which I find–at times–dangerous. And, yes, I don’t like fat-shaming because I don’t think women exist to give men boners, plus I just find it cruel. But I also think everybody’s allowed to have preferences. Some men like thin women, some men like fat women, some men like that alien chick from “Total Recall” with three boobs. Like I said, we all have our preferences and that’s groovy. So this hysterical screeching seems to me to be a bit of an overreaction.
- Theadore Beale thought that nominating Chuck Tingle’s “Space Raptor Butt Invasion” would, I don’t know, show those stupid Hugo Awards that he and his minions are a serious-minded, respectable group of people who just really really care about seeing that quality science fiction gets awarded, as opposed to a bunch of poopy-pantsed caterwaulers who can’t stand to see anyone but white men nominated. I think this tactic may backfire, however, as “Space Raptor Butt Invasion” is not science fiction, it’s autobiographical and 100% true. (No link because I’m not linking to any of the sites that are currently covering this.)
