Prophets of the New Gilded Age

Thanks to Malaclypse for sending me this story of a millionaire at age 22 giving advice on how to become a millionaire. The answer? Mental shifts! The seven mental shifts given are nothing more than self-help pablum. Think Big! Which is also the URI marketing slogan. Believe in Yourself! Reinvest in Yourself! All the cliches. What this kid fails to mention is the slight advantage he gained by being born into a rich family of developers. After all, nothing is harder to help you make money than getting contracts from large corporations to represent their interests.

But then we all know this guy is better than we are. Because he made the mental shift before he was even born to be born not only rich, but white and male. That’s why he is so much more deserving than we are. Clearly if you are born poor, black, and/or female, you are simply less worthy. It’s Social Darwinism at work! Survival of the fittest, mofos!
