By A young woman gets suspended and stripped of her volleyball captaincy under “zero tolerance” rules on drinking…even though she was not in fact drinking and was there to give an inebriated friend a ride. Apparently, the right thing to do would have been…to let her friend drive drunk?
As far as I can tell, “zero tolerance” rules are generally based on the idea that school administrators are too dumb to exercise any discretion or judgement, and alas this would often seem to be justified.
