Baseball Play by Play
This morning, the Yankees have sent out Tanyon Sturtze to face Bruce Chen of the Baltimore Orioles. Although both Chen and Sturtze are having decent seasons, neither have the reputation of being the second coming of Lefty Grove.
Thus, my mild surprise when, following a Derek Jeter single to lead off the first inning, the announcer asks “Do you think they’ll have Cano bunt?”
Fortunately (or unfortunately, as the case may be), Joe Torre is not actually a moron. Rather than pissing away an out to get Jeter to second, he let Cano take a walk, which was quickly followed by a colossal Gary Sheffield home run.
Little ball. Either that, or three run home runs.
