We may not have the cinema options here in Seattle that Scott does in New York, but we do OK out here. Case in point: from February 3rd-March 10th, The Northwest Film Forum on Capitol Hill is having an Ozu retrospective. And they’re not kidding about this–they’re showing, by my count, 27 different films. Here’s the calendar. My Ozu viewing so far has been limited to one screening of Tokyo Story on video, and like most people who see it, I thought is was a masterpiece. I won’t be missing it on the big screen.

My question is, what else should I see? Depending on what else is in theatres in February, I probably have time for 4-5 films. What are Ozu’s best films? Are there any rare masterpieces that aren’t available on video/DVD that I shouldn’t pass up? Recommendations are most welcome.
