Last night was perhaps the best since the Henry Bonilla. Catch the replay if you missed it. Fortunately, Atrios captures one of the best bits. One thing this SBVT stuff has brought to the fore is that balance and objectivity don’t necessarily have anything to do with each other. The media pulls this kind of stuff all the time (Think your typical global warming coverage: “And in the interests of balance and fairness, we’ve added to our panel of distinguished scientists a jibbering idiot”), but it’s rarely this transparent. Most of them act as though they don’t understand the difference, but that can’t be true. I think the fear of percieved bias has to be playing a huge part here–this is where the years of complaining about the liberal media really pay off.

Update: Forgot to mention–Stewart may well have burned the Bob Dole bridge last night as well. But it was worth it, and absolutely necessary.
