The Senate Is A Serious Problem
This is a sobering thread:
Like let’s say Trump loses the popular vote by four instead of two, dropping PA, MI, WI, FL, AZ, and NC while dragging down Sens Gardner, Tillis, and McSally.
That’s a very strong result for Democrats!
But unless Doug Jones also gets re-elected in Alabama that’s a GOP Senate.

There’s just an incredible mismatch between the current utopian mood in progressive policy circles and the reality of a senate map that makes progressive majorities all but impossible.

There, of course, areas where the marginal differences between the Democratic candidates might be important — appointments, foreign policy, management of the executive branch. But in terms of legislation, the only question is exactly how far to the left of the median vote of the Senate the president will be, and this just isn’t very important.
