I don’t understand why the Green Party is characterized as a bunch of whiny cranks.

STEIN/BARAKA HEADQUARTERS ALERT!
DEMEANING AND WILDLY INACCURATE
COMEDY SKETCH BY JOHN OLIVER
CAUSING CAMPAIGN SHORTFALLS!

Such characterizations are completely unfair.

Oliver got it woefully, intentionally wrong. Gosh, it was almost as if they weren’t interested in the truth. It’s almost as if they just wanted to do a hatchet job…

Oh, all right. We’ll come clean – John Oliver and his cronies at Time/Warner obviously knew what they were doing….lol! Oliver stated flatly that Jill doesn’t understand the policy implications of using quantitative easing to cancel student debt.

Baloney!

And without merit and mean and nasty.

But here’s the problem: his program is watched by a lot of people and the day after his show, our unsolicited web contributions dropped by 60%, from an average of $7,000 – $10,000 a day to about $3,000 a day. Ouch.

(Contributions from people like you though, have stayed steady. Thank you!)

So I’m writing today to ask you to do some heavy lifting and help make up for the shortfall in “walk-in” web donations. Can you give $29, $39, $49, or $59 for Stein today?

Here’s the thing: John Oliver’s sarcasm overshadows the fact that a Fox News poll this week shows Jill running at 12% among Independents!

It’s true, look. If you ignore all of the other numbers on the chart, Stein is doing really well. Take that, doubters.

Christ. I suppose if I were a good little liberal I’d be sitting at a Free Hugs for Stein Supporters booth (when I wasn’t rubbing Republicans on the back and murmuring There, there). But I’m not. So far as I’m concerned, the only good thing about the quadrennial ritual of the Green Party’s presidential candidate stamping around like Verruca Salt on a coke binge because they want a U.S. Presidency NOW! is it provides some comic relief and a distraction from worrying about whatever the GOP is trying to put in the White House.

And the moment they flounce the fuck off into obscurity is really nice too.
