Paul Ryan: The Last Serious Republican

The media’s love affair with Paul Ryan: The Last Serious Republican grows by the day. I wonder what will happen when the granny-starver proves as vapid and hopeless for the Republican future as Walker, Jeb, Jindal, and all the rest of the clowns? These stories are all projection that somehow the Republican base is going to accept a Beltway and billionaire-approved Washington candidate who doesn’t hold to orthodoxy and the politics of resentment at 110%. Instead, somehow the Republican base in 2016 or 2020 is going to be totally fine with someone taking away their benefits while opening the nation’s door to a few brown people. There’s no calculus provided as to how that will actually happen because it won’t except that he’s just so handsome. It’s pure fantasy.
