FIORINA OF HP AND CAPELLA OF COMPAQ AT MERGER PRESS CONFERENCE.

Fortune has re-posted a deep dive into Carly Fiornia’s HP:

But celebrity, as everybody knows, isn’t an achievement in itself. Beneath the public image are the yardsticks against which executives are — and should be — measured. So it is right to ask whether this whirlwind has succeeded. And inevitably that question must be answered in two parts. First, under the only lens that matters, did the famed merger that Fiorina engineered between HP and Compaq produce value for HP’s shareholders? Second, with that merger nearly three years past, is HP in shape to thrive in its brutally competitive world?

The answers are no and doubtful.

Meanwhile, I love Ed Kilgore’s response to Fiorina’s assertion that Hillary Clinton has no accomplishments:

I’m sorry, I have to call BS on this exercise, if only because it is emanating from Carly Fiorina, whose public policy accomplishments are exactly “zero.” If, say, HRC had (as I think it’s clear she did) a formative effect on the long effort towards universal health coverage, it’s vastly more influence than Fiorina has ever had on public policy.
