The Daily Caller Probably Can’t Become Less Relevant, But..

[ 14 ] February 4, 2011 | Scott Lemieux

The walking-punchline Daily Tucker hires blogger who will be relevant if 1997 ever comes back.   The site that broke the JournoList non-scandal hires a man obsessed with Ezra Klein — perfect!   Perhaps his first story can be about GM posting its highest market share in two years.    I blame the UAW!

Tucker says Mickey is “one of the funniest people blogging in English.” Mickey follows with a flaccid punchline about barbecuegate (not to be confused with swiss cheesegate, green teagate, orange juicegate or arugulagate). This is going places.

    • rea says:

Well, he is one of the most ridiculous people blogging in English, so in a sense it’s true.

I think Mickey Kaus is hilarious and very insightful. What is this silly website here that has readers who know what Kaus is but do not appreciate him? Mickey Kaus was a leader in getting democrats to realize what a horrendous policy failure the old AFDC was. His writing (along with others) contributed to the passage of welfare reform, one of the few things that everyone (outside I guess of the most demented Left) sees as one of the few real policy accomplishments of the last 25 years. He is also extremely funny, and on bloggingheads his work just makes me crack up. Unlike you twits, he is quite sincere and does not take himself too seriously. You could all learn a lot from him, if you weren’t too busy being stupid-snotty.

        Sharon

          Sharon,

Are you by any chance a goat? It would be irresponsible not to speculate.

          • Sharon Chin says:

I feel like I strayed into some den of annoying 10 year old boys. I bet your “readership” is just the same as your masthead of writers–second rate poli-sci academics, sheesh. Bye bye loser boys.

        • DocAmazing says:

I can see that you’ve got no friends who were on AFDC. It’s much stingier now, and harder to get–so kids don’t get fed as well.

Actually, my opening sentence may have been four words too long.

    • hv says:

Guess what Mickey Kaus is keeping in his back pocket? For those times when he really needs a punchline…

      gategate.

Those goats aren’t going to blow themselves!

  3. Epicurus says:

After the stunning success of his Senate campaign, methinks Mr. Kaus found himself short of funds. Tucker is always available to offer a sinecure. I eagerly await Mickey’s brain droppings gracing the virtual pages of the Daily Loser.

    • Warren Terra says:

Especially since Kaus chucked what was an apparently absurdly well paying gig at Slate in favor of the Senate run (although I wondered whether the Senate gig was an excuse to quit before he was fired; Slate was apparently facing budget cuts, and he must have seemed a great big target even in that utterly undistinguished milieu, the great Dahlia Lithwick being of course excepted from my scorn for Slate).

    • kth says:

Trouble is, Carlson will probably run out of money in 3 months.

And it occurs to me that Kaus’ real home is with Breitbart. That party will (sadly) probably never run out of money.

  4. [...] of moribund fourth-rate conservative sites, I decided to check out the Daily Tucker to see how their own recycled conservative hire is doing. The answer, apparently, is that Kaus has started his new gig with a lengthy vacation. [...]
