CNN is Not Amused

[ 16 ] September 29, 2010 | Robert Farley

Everything about this story is amusing, but I found the transcript of O’Keefe’s phone call particularly indicative of CNN’s attitude towards the affair:

“I just want to talk,” O’Keefe told Boudreau on the phone. “I just want to have a, you know, meeting with you, and talk to you face to face about this. Because, I don’t, I feel sort of, let’s just say reserved about, about letting people into my sort of inner sanctum, about letting, letting people sort of take a glimpse into, into, behind the scenes, so that’s why you know, I just feel more comfortable if it was just me and you and we just had a face-to-face meeting before I agree to, to let you guys come out and shoot the video shoot out there.”

Normally, a network edits out the “uh, a, you know” from a quote. When they don’t, it’s clear that they’re happy to let you sound like a moron.

Poor CNN: they lied down with a dog, and got up with fleas. I have such sympathy.

First person to say what the sites discussing this story have in common wins a cookie:

Well, I’m guessing that Donalde would say those sites ate filled with the real racists. Racist, nihilist demonologists, the lot of them.

    I like oatmeal cookies, btw.

  3. West of the Cascades says:

None of them are right-wing blogs.

    • SEK says:

You sir, win a cookie! Just tell me when you’ll be in the Corona, CA area and I’ll give it to you. (That’s not an idle promise, either, as the Interwebs have provided me with cookies in the past and I have karma to consider.)

      • Ian says:

Well, RedState has come very strongly against O’Keefe this time, although there is considerable push-back from some of the commenters.

      • West of the Cascades says:

I would be very grateful for the cookie!! But you should send it to John Cole whose original observation I was just repeating (and cleverly not citing until I was sure that’s the answer you were thinking of). Stunning, really that there is not a single conservative who is squawking about this (not even a “well maybe he went a little too far but that just proves he’s thinking outside the box”) – just dead silence, “nothing to see here move along.”

  4. Fledermaus says:

O’keefe reminds me of they guy at parties that will start hitting on your girlfriend (poorly, i might add) the moment you’re 8 feet away. And continue to do that to you and every other girl there until you and the other guys grab him, take his pants, and kick him out the door while everyone laughs and cheers

  5. Thers says:

I love you guys, but uh, the real fun is in Breitbart’s Twitter feed.

    I mean JEEZ.

  6. DrDick says:

I am looking forward to CNN turning the media microscope on O’Keefe and his mentor Breitbart, as well as tracking down who exactly is funding all this sewage.

  7. [...] the fact that none of the major conservative blogs have rushed to O’Keefe’s defense is amusing, the document CNN acquired is not.  Or only differently.  It contains statements [...]
