Steve Witkoff just kind of slipped this into his latest progress report on the well-known diplomatic channel X.

White House staff member, you say? Here’s what an official government website says:

Josh Gruenbaum has been appointed as Commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service, or FAS. With extensive experience at leading firms KKR & Co. and Moelis & Co., he has specialized in complex restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate turnarounds, governance, and investing. His strong financial expertise and broad business acumen will provide essential leadership to FAS, ensuring alignment with the President’s vision for government efficiency. Josh has served on numerous boards across various industries, demonstrating a deep understanding of organizational strategy and governance. He holds a J.D. from NYU School of Law and an M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business, and is admitted to the New York State Bar. With this robust background, Josh brings a disciplined and strategic perspective to FAS that will enhance its operations and mission.

Yeah, sounds like just what the team needed.

The Wall Street Journal tells us that the reason that Witkoff showed up at the Kremlin without an interpreter was that that was what Vladimir Putin told him to so. The article is paywalled, so I haven’t read it, but Dan Drezner excerpts it and, though he’s bored doing it, dunks once more on the feckless Witkoff.
