Gloria Steinem, RIP

We wake up this Thursday to news of the loss of the one of the greatest of Americans. Looking back, she was right or mostly right about almost everything in her whole life, with the exception of when she defended Bill Clinton’s behavior, an unfortunately common thing about feminists at the time. It’s hard to be right that often. She lived nearly a century, saw huge victoires for women’s rights, yet never got to see total victory as these battles have been so, so slow and filled with almost as many defeats as wins. That in itself is frustrating, but there’s nothing more Steinem could have done to see it through. She did her part and much more. RIP.
