The Jump to Conclusions

There was a thing that happened here that’s made the national news, and while I’m hesitant to discuss it there have been some inquiries and so I’ll address briefly… The reactions to the story in its initial form were exceedingly predictable, with right wing social media bloviating hard in all of the ways you might expect. Left and feminist voices pushed back, mostly with a laudable “we don’t know the details so don’t jump to conclusions” approach but sometimes with “we must make an evidence-free leap into the exact opposite conclusions of right wingers because it’s important to push back on their stupidity with something just as stupid.” Not gonna link to any of it because it’s all playing out exactly as you’d expect.

Anyway… we know more now and it’s real fucking bad. Let the lesson be that a social media dust up can dust itself up just fine without your participation, so take care with your mental health and do something else with your day.
