Putin sends drones into Poland

I was told that this war would be over quickly once Uncle Joe Brandon left office:

Poland’s military shot down drones deep inside the country following a Russian attack on Ukraine early Wednesday, the armed forces said, and authorities closed down major Polish airports for the first time since the war began.

The drones crossed into Poland during an overnight strike by Moscow on Ukraine, making their way further west over the NATO member’s territory than at any time previously reported during the war.

An armed forces command said Polish and allied aircraft had taken off in the country’s airspace and that radar and air defense systems had been put on alert to track the objects. No damage from the drones was reported.

“Some of the drones that entered our airspace were shot down,” said the operational command of Poland’s armed forces. “Efforts are under way to search for and locate the possible crash sites of these objects.”

Russian drones have increasingly crossed into Polish airspace from Ukraine in recent weeks as Moscow has increased its attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Poland regularly scrambles its war planes to counter threats from the conflict in Ukraine. The countries share a border of more than 300 miles.

The incident occurred at a time of heightened tension, coinciding with large-scale Polish military exercises that started earlier this month.
