Trump’s arrest of the entire House of Representatives raises questions about his commitment to democracy

Since nothing goes without saying anymore—it is not normal for the FBI to fire experienced and accomplished senior leaders without explanation. The purge that is ongoing is without precedent in the modern history of the bureau. It raises questions about whether the Trump administration is trying to turn the nation’s most powerful law enforcement agency into an instrument of presidential whim—exactly the thing he baselessly accused his opponent of doing.
The sad thing: by the standards of contemporary mainstream journalism, this is about as good as it gets.
