Recap: A few trolls purporting to be atheists screeched “no God in our politics!!!” at the Democrat’s best chance of picking up a Senate seat in the 2026 midterms, and were in return yelled at by everyone else on Bluesky. Long story short, don’t feed the trolls!
Short story turned informative anecdote, I have absolutely zero patience for gatekeeping in the Democratic coalition for the next four years, if at all. “But they’re bad people and I don’t want to be in a club with bad people” is idiotic politics now and always has been. As many have said before, if you don’t have hate in your heart for the other side of your own coalition in American politics, your coalition is almost certainly too small and destined for defeat.
Informative anecdote turned into nostalgic rumination, the evangelical atheists had their moment in conversations about the nature and purposes of progressive politics, and they fucked up things so badly that no one was really sad when a substantial portion of them decided to go performatively anti-woke and exited the coalition of their own accord. Which is in its own way a shame because we also need performative assholes in the Democratic coalition…
