I am not saying Vincent was a saint as baseball commissioner, but Vincent absolutely loved the game of baseball and wanted to see it grow and the owners fired him for not backing them on their desired labor stoppage. Then the owners got what they wanted–Bud Selig–and we all got a year without a World Series for no good reason at all. RIP.
