No Chaos

I don’t have time to blog really today, as I am finishing the last chapter of this book manuscript and won’t go to bed til it is done, but let me say one thing about the current situation.
There is only one acceptable replacement for Joe Biden. That is Kamala Harris. Anything else is nonsense and destructive. Harris is just as good as any other given Democrat, there’s no process for replacing him in a different way that doesn’t lead to chaos and infighting, and again, all the possible candidates are all the same person with slightly different profiles. Biden chose Harris to run with him (even if he has completely sidelined her for most of the term). At the very least, we need to respect Biden’s belief that she can replace him if necessary. Whether Biden actually believes that or not, I don’t know, for reasons Paul pointed out earlier today.
So if the funders and Pelosi and everyone else who (rightfully) are calling for Biden to step aside here really believe in this, they have to come out and endorse Harris upfront, without question. It’s the best way to keep the party together AND, I repeat again, what’s the meaningful difference between her or Booker or Buttigeg or Newsom or Klobuchar or anyone else? The only possible difference is that you believe this nation is too racist or misogynist to ever vote a woman of color into office, but Hillary Clinton did in fact win a majority of votes and Barack Obama has been president, so there’s some slightness in that argument.
