Shall we have a more relaxing thread? Yes, we shall.

My beautiful Ric died in a horrible accident a few weeks back. That’s all I’ll say about that.

Zooey and Ric were a bonded pair, probably littermates. Their coat colors were very similar, but they were different in every other way. Zooey has missed Ric terribly. So on Wednesday, with the help of an infrequent commenter here and at Balloon Juice, I got him another friend at the Albuquerque Eastside Shelter.

I have named him Telemachus, Tel for short. He is an orange kitty with many brain cells. His very short coat and very long legs suggest to me that he is part or all Bengal. He was released from his isolation room this morning and purred continuously as he investigated the house. Zooey was watchful and has been establishing himself as Senior Cat, although in a friendly way. They even played a bit this morning, but somebody said something bad, and Tel is back in his room. Overall, I’m encouraged. A few pics.

This is an alert, not hostile, posture. It’s close to his normal. Long legs.

He is utterly fascinated by the water fountain.
