Ukraine Heating Up

For the past week or so, a couple of groups of allegedly Russian resisters against the Putin regime have been fighting their way into Russia from Ukraine. Now some other things are happening. A great many admonitions not to say anything about the fighting are showing up on social media, and are seemingly observed. Nothing I’m going to post about the fighting is confirmed, so read at your own risk.

Looks like there is fighting in and around Novodonetsk.

There’s quite a bit going on around Belgorod, too, which has been the case for the past several days.

CNN Exclusive: Ukraine has cultivated sabotage agents inside Russia and is giving them drones to stage attacks, sources say. This makes a lot of sense, because the drone attacks reported so far have been with small, short-range drones.

There was also this –

The US State Department and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have been making statements of support for Ukraine.

I’m also seeing reminders that the Russians intend to use the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to scare Europe into insisting that the action slow down at some point when the Russians need a breather. Not clear whether this will be a pure psyop or if there will be a radiation release. There is likely to be fighting around the power plant.

It looks like what is happening now is a sort of aggressive reconnaissance, putting pressure on the Russians to find weak spots. Probably not a full start to the offensive, but we’re clearly not hearing everything.
