In the comment thread discussing the re-writing of the Clean Water Act by the Supreme Court, DogHatDog brings up the willful idiocy of Roberts’s extended piss on America democracy, Rucho v. Common Cause. Reading Joan Biskupic’s excellent new book on the Court nearly gave me a stroke by reminding be of this:

Gerrymandering isn’t even a real thing! Republicans in Wisconsin and North Carolina just keep getting incredibly lucky!

Incidentally, that White cite is from 1985. Have any new technology and/or sources of data emerged since then that might make partisan gerrymanders much more efficient and less potentially risky? Well, many lawyers who actually know what they’re talking about tried to inform Roberts about this, but Thomas Hofeller is a mythical creature, like unicorns and the 15th Amendment LALALALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU!

Roberts is just Alito with a longer time horizon, and it’s amazing how many people have fallen for his schtick.
