Mass shootings in the USA in the first 24 days of 2023

In the first 24 days of this year, 73 people in America have died in mass shootings, defined as shooting incidents in which at least four people are shot. 165 people have been wounded in these incidents.

This CNN story points out that fault lies on both sides of the political aisle for this epidemic, given that the Republicans don’t want to do anything about it, and the Democrats are unable to force the Republicans to do anything about it. This reminds me of something else associated with the word epidemic but I can’t remember exactly what at the moment.
