The chances of this being coincidental and not a right-wing terrorist attack seem very low to me. We will see.

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was “violently assaulted” by an assailant who broke into the couple’s San Francisco home early Friday morning, the speaker’s office said in a statement.

“The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation,” read the statement from Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill.

Paul Pelosi, 82, “was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time,” Hammill said.

It’s only a matter of time before assassinations of Democratic politicians are part of our landscape. And the Republican Party will embrace it in the following ways:

  1. Expressed outrage for a few days
  2. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert say it was a good thing and/or fake
  3. Tucker picks up on it and says it was Democrats setting up Republicans
  4. Mitch sees the polls and realizes no one actually cares
  5. It is embraced as normal politics by the Republican Party two weeks after the assassination
