Giving an unusually greedy grifter unfettered access to its mailing lists is the sort of mistake Republican leadership would regret if they were capable of admitting they made mistakes, or feeling regret.

It’s been over a week since former President Donald Trump pledged that he would be filing a lawsuit against CNN.

It’s been, one week since he said he’d sue. Could it be a lie like he always do?

Sorry.

Yet, instead of court documents being filed, Trump appears to be more preoccupied with begging followers to send in money to “support” the so far non-existent legal action.

Because that would involve paying the attorneys he still hasn’t paid for the 200+ page letter they drafted and sent to CNN warning the broadcaster of their intent to sue. Or perhaps hiring some attorneys who know how to file a lawsuit. Or hell, for all I know he found some sovereign citizen chumps who are still trying to capture the bald eagle that they’ll train to deliver the papers.

That email titled “Let’s SUE CNN” was one of two CNN-inspired fundraising emails sent out on Friday.

From the template where they just fill in the name of the whatever Enemy of the [obnoxious permanently angry bigoted white] People he’s totally going to sue as soon as he receives enough money from the [obnoxious permanently angry bigoted white] People. That is, what he thinks is enough money, an amount of money which does not exist.

A second email sent out hours later struck a similar urgent tune and said: “I’m going to look over the names of the first 45 Patriots who added their names to publicly stand with their President AGAINST CNN.”

Perfect. Why offer the suckers a piece of plastic or to put their names on a special donor wall when a promise to “look over their names” (not read them, of course) will do? Christogrifters who wasted time dicking around with the Bible and seminary must be kicking themselves.

It seems extremely irresponsible not to speculate that there’s a connection between Team Trump’s constant gold-plated cup rattling and news like this. As an aside, I had forgotten that Sen. Rick “Record-Setting Health Care Fraud on My Watch” Scott was the NRSC chair. So it would also be irresponsible not to speculate that some of the money is falling into a special emergency More Money for Rick Scott fund. Even if he hasn’t burned through the money he extracted from Columbia/HCA by now he’s a Republican and Republicans don’t understand the concept of enough money.

Every party member knows this, and that they’re all a bunch of crooks. And they all think that they’re the smartest and the bestest and putting one over on all the members of the group. Think of the devils in The Screwtape Letters. Only uglier.

Fun fact: People who post OT comments put their mouths all over the spout when they drink from public water fountains.
