Anytime you invite me onto some sort of media thing, you know it’s going to be a light-hearted time. In that spirit, as well as the Christmas spirit, I was on the excellent This Day in Esoteric Political History podcast with the excellent historian hosts Kellie Carter Jackson and Nicole Hemmer to discuss the Calumet disaster in 1913, when the Western Federation of Miners hosted a Christmas party for the striking copper workers and 73 people died in stampede possibly caused by anti-union thugs yelling “fire.” Good times. But check out the podcast, they do a great job all the time.
