For the latest LGM podcast, I interviewed Michael Hillard, an economist at the University of Southern Maine, about his new book, Shredding Paper: The Rise and Fall of Maine’s Mighty Paper Industry. For those of you who think this is some esoteric specialized topic, it’s not because what we are really talking about the changes in both American capitalism and labor over the twentieth century that reflects the larger transformations of our society. For those of you interested in these larger economic transformations and how they have impacted the working class and our contemporary politics, this is a good podcast for you. Enjoy!
