Biden shouldn’t give Trump any credit for the COVID vaccine because he deserves none

Apparently the thing among Thoughtful Centrists today is musing about why Biden is so unwilling to credit Trump for his role in battling the pandemic.

Something that has gone down the memory hole among various Even the Liberal types is that Trump completely stopped even pretending to deal with the pandemic during his last two and a half months in office, even as the pandemic was cresting into its highest and most deadly wave yet.

Because it was Donald Trump everyone just sort of shrugged, but this was quite possibly the most egregious dereliction of duty of any president ever. It was by itself a totally valid basis for impeaching and convicting him, not that there was any shortage of those.

But it should be remembered as among his very worst acts. This malignant negligence, along with his craven refusal to even acknowledge the fact — let alone appropriately publicize it — that he was getting vaccinated, were both direct contributors to a very large number of avoidable deaths.
