For my latest interview with recent authors, I talk to Jeff Sanders, a historian at Washington State University, about his new book Razing Kids: Youth, Environment, and the Postwar American West. We cover a variety of issues from postwar urban planning to nuclear toxicity to what happens when the CCC is recreated in the Great Society as the Youth Conservation Corps but with Black kids instead of white ones and, uh, it doesn’t go well.
